Jaromir JagrJaromir Jagr was born on February 15, 1972 in Kladno, Czech Republic. He played junior hockey in his hometown and won bronze medals in the 1990 World Juniors and the World Championship. Jagr was drafted in 1990 by the Pittsburgh Penguins as their 1st choice, 5th overall. He scored 57 points in his first season with the Penguins and was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team. Jagr would get an early taste of success as the Lemieux led powerhouse Penguins won back to back Stanley Cup Championships in his first two seasons. Jagr's offensive numbers continued to improve year over year, and in 1995 he became the first European player to win the Art Ross trophy with 149 points in the regular season. He would go on to repeat that feat four more times. Teamed up with Mario Lemieux, Jagr contined to tear up the NHL throughout the 1990s. He broke Mike Bossy's record for most goals by a right-winger in his most productive season. The 1995-96 season also saw Jagr put up career highs in goals, assists and points as he notched 149 points. As the Penguins continued to face financial troubles and after a decade in Pittsburgh, Jagr was dealt to the Washington Capitals in the summer of 2001. The trade saw the Pens receive Kris Beech, Michal Sivek, Ross Lupaschuk and future considerations for Jaromir Jagr and defenseman Frantisek Kucera. Though the move to Washington hasn't yielded the predicted fireworks, Jagr continues to be a threat everytime he steps on the ice. With the Capitals off to a slow start in 2003, Jaromir was traded to the New York Rangers in January 2004 for Anson Carter. The 2005-06 saw a resurgent Jagr make his mark on the game, scoring 123 points for the Rangers. Here is a summary of Jaromir Jagr's NHL accomplishments; Year Team GP G A Pts Pim 1990-91 Pittsburgh Penguins 80 27 30 57 42 1991-92 Pittsburgh Penguins 70 32 37 69 34 1992-93 Pittsburgh Penguins 81 34 60 94 61 1993-94 Pittsburgh Penguins 80 32 67 99 61 1994-95 Pittsburgh Penguins 48 32 38 70 37 1995-96 Pittsburgh Penguins 82 62 87 149 96 1996-97 Pittsburgh Penguins 63 47 48 95 40 1997-98 Pittsburgh Penguins 77 35 67 102 64 1998-99 Pittsburgh Penguins 81 44 83 127 66 1999-00 Pittsburgh Penguins 63 42 54 96 50 2000-01 Pittsburgh Penguins 81 52 69 121 42 2001-02 Washington Capitals 69 31 48 79 30 2002-03 Washington Capitals 75 36 41 77 38 2003-04 Washington Capitals 46 16 29 45 26 2003-04 New York Rangers 75 15 14 29 12 2005-06 New York Rangers 82 54 69 123 72 NHL Totals 1109 591 841 1432 771Team Pages: Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals, New York Rangers Other Jaromir Jagr Resources |
